The Texas yoga instructor accused of murdering a professional cyclist in a love triangle had a plastic surgery receipt among her possessions when she was arrested hiding in Costa Rica, according to a new report.
Fugitive Kaitlin Marie Armstrong – who was arrested at a Santa Teresa Beach hostel on Wednesday – left behind two passports and a receipt for $6,350 for cosmetic surgery, a witness said Interior Edition was under “another name”.
The witness also said it looked like something had happened to his face.
“[She had] a bandage on her nose and she had blood in her nostrils,” Zachary Paulsen told the outlet.
US federal officials said Armstrong altered her appearance when they found her and she had a bandage over her nose and bruises under her eyes.
She had also cut her hair short and dyed it a darker brown.
“She was just asking how to get around cheaper, and then the police came,” Paulsen told Inside Edition.
Armstrong reportedly stayed at Don Jon’s Surf and Yoga Lodge under a different name and apparently studied a new yoga, possibly to teach again, Inside Edition said.
After Armstrong was arrested, Paulsen said he found items in a locker that included his passport, a second passport belonging to his sister Christine, and the cosmetic surgery receipt.
Deputy U.S. Marshal Brandon Filla previously said Armstrong used a valid, active passport belonging to someone with “very similar physical descriptions” when she took a flight from Newark, NJ to Costa Rica last month. . He did not say who owned the passport or how Armstrong got it.
Cops believe Armstrong shot 25-year-old Anna Moriah Wilson multiple times at an Austin residence on May 11 in a jealous rage over the cyclist’s relationship with Armstrong’s boyfriend. Wilson had just spent the day swimming and dining with Armstrong’s boyfriend, Colin Strickland, who is also a professional cyclist and once had an affair with Wilson.
Wilson, who was in town from San Francisco for an errand, had dated Strickland last fall while away from Armstrong, he later told cops. Armstrong’s black Jeep Grand Cherokee was seen in surveillance footage outside the friend’s home shortly after Strickland dropped Wilson off at his friend’s house the night of her murder, cops said.
The yoga instructor fled Texas after cops questioned her about the murder. Authorities say she flew to New York, then was dropped off a few days later at Newark Liberty International Airport, where she boarded a flight to Costa Rica.
Armstrong is expected to be deported from Costa Rica within the next 30 days and returned to the United States to face charges.
