A MAN says he has no regrets spending over £25,000 on cosmetic surgery in a bid to get the ‘perfect look’ for social media.

Dale Saint Cullen, 28, says he was affected by social media and was determined to look “perfect” before realizing it was “completely wrong”.

The 28-year-old from Chester-le-Street, County Durham, has had a number of operations including rhinoplasty, chin implant and crowns on his teeth.

He now wants to make young people aware of the dangers of social media, especially after realizing the operations could leave someone “feeling worse” than before.

He said Live Chronicle: “On social media, I never noticed at the time, but I was looking at these people who looked perfect and I fell into this vicious cycle of chasing what was not reality, it was completely wrong.

“I would fly to Poland and Turkey and show the surgeons Instagram filtered photos of what I wanted to look like.

“It took me a while to realize that wasn’t what they looked like in real life.

“I realized that I’ll never really achieve what I’m looking for. You really have to love yourself from within.”

Dale said he initially wanted to have his nose done, but eventually underwent other procedures.

He added: “I wanted to change my nose and so I was going to have my nose done and that was it.

“Then when I came back to social media, I wanted a better chin and better teeth, bigger lips and a more pointed jawline.

“It’s like there’s always a new trend and I just can’t follow. I’m all for following the trend, but not when it means you have to change your whole face.”

Although he admits he has no regrets about the procedures he has done, he wants to warn others to make sure they are doing it for the right reasons.

He added: “I don’t regret the work I did because when I look back I feel like I look better but I regret my reasons.

“I spent so much time, money and energy chasing that perfect look, it’s crazy.

“I would just tell people to do their research first and make sure they’re doing it for the right reasons.”

The 28-year-old says he worries about reality TV stars and influencers looking “perfect on social media” and the effect that can have on young people.

He said: “When you see all these stars and reality TV influencers and they look perfect, it can be really damaging for young people.

“And when people encourage followers to get surgery or tell people to buy these products or get the perfect Hollywood smile, it’s just crazy.”

Dale added: “I really want to show other young people that it’s not possible to go for a look like that and it can make you feel worse than before.”
