Indian specialty packaging company EPL has developed a sustainable packaging solution for cosmetic products from its brand partner Vicco Labs.

Vicco Labs, specializing in Ayurvedic and vegan products, will use fully recyclable Platina tubes for its turmeric products.

Products in the line include Vicco Turmeric Skin Cream, Vicco Turmeric Aloe Vera Skin Cream, Vicco Turmeric WSO Cream and Vicco Turmeric Face Wash.

The two companies jointly performed the necessary tests to ensure that the products meet quality protocols before they are released to the market.

The product line is now available in modern commerce, e-commerce platforms and traditional shopping channels in its new packaging.

Deepak Ganjoo, President of EPL Africa, Middle East and South Asia (AMESA), said: “We are delighted to partner with Vicco Labs in this achievement and to help them meet their sustainability commitments.

“EPL has been at the forefront of sustainable innovations and we will continue to support major brands in launching products in recyclable tube packaging.

“This is in line with our commitment to a sustainable environment. “

Platina tubes are recyclable in the Code Two plastic channel, which processes high density polyethylene (HDPE).

The American Association of Plastics Recyclers (APR) has also certified that Lamitubes Platina 250, 300 and 350 meet or exceed its critical high-density polyethylene guidance criteria on recyclability.

In addition to being recyclable, the tubes are designed to help consumer goods brands accelerate their sustainability efforts by reducing the use of plastic in their operations.

Deep Pendharkar, Director of Vicco Labs, said: “We are happy to lead the sustainability program and convert to recyclable packaging.

“This step is a way forward to achieve our commitments in terms of sustainable development. EPL remains our partner of choice for innovative and sustainable tube packaging.

EPL currently sells around seven billion tubes per year, operating 19 facilities in 11 countries.
