Make Up Ideas

Pale Skin

If your skin tone is exceptionally pale, you may want to warm up your complexion a little with a hint of coppery gold blush. Dust this product over the entire face, concentrating on the cheekbones and chin. This will give your face an all-over radiant glow without looking as though you are wearing a mask.

Lackluster Skin

Whether it’s due to a late night out or a period of high stress, sometimes our skin will pay the price for poor diet and lack of sleep. You can perk up lackluster skin with a few quick tricks.

  • Hydrate: First and foremost, your skin needs water and lots of it. Start your day with a big glass of purified water and make sure you continue to drink water throughout the day. Aim for eight 8 oz glasses.
  • Moisturize: Tired skin usually feels dry and tight. So be sure to keep it moisturized with a high-quality organic moisturizing product made especially for your skin type. Look for one that also includes sunscreen and you’ll save yourself time getting ready.
  • Blush: When you are tired, you tend to look pale and washed out. Counteract this effect by using a touch more blush than you normally do. Apply your blush as you always do, then very lightly add a brighter shade just on the apples of your cheeks.

For The Eyes

Dark Circles

Dark under eye circles can sap the life out of any complexion. The secret to hiding these blemishes is to use a combination of two concealers. A pale pink concealer will correct the dark, purple-green color of your circles. Then apply your regular yellow-toned concealer to blend in with your foundation. Be sure to carefully blend the concealer between each application and top it off with a touch of translucent powder to set the cover-up in place.

Puffy Eyes

When eyes are tired and puffy, it’s best to stick with a minimal amount of make up. Shimmery eye shadows and cream based products will draw attention to the eyes and magnify their puffiness. Try using a neutral toned, matte powder shadow instead. Stay away from dark shades, which make your eyes recede, and rosy tones that will make your eyes look even more tired. Use an eyelash curler to “open up” your eyes even and apply two to three coats of lengthening or thickening mascara on the upper lashes only. This will draw attention up and away from dark under eye circles.

Too Close Together

For eyes that are too close together, your best bet is to place more emphasis on the outer corner of the eye. Apply a light shade of eye shadow over the entire eye lid, then use a medium shadow on just the inner half, from the eyelid crease to the lash line. Blend outward to create a natural finish.

Too Far Apart

Eyes that are more than one eyes width apart may benefit from a little optical illusion to make them appear closer together. Apply your eye make up as you usually would, but be careful to place more emphasis on the inner corner of the eye than the outer corner. Use lighter shades to highlight the outer corner of your eye, and medium shades on the inner corner. Blend each color inward.

Small Eyes

Use light eye shadow shades to make your eyes appear larger than they actually are. Apply a light shade over the entire eyelid, and then finish off with a darker shade on the outer edge of the crease. Use eyeliner on the outer edge of both the upper and lower lids, tapering it a bit at the edge to elongate the eye. Finally, use a touch of white or cream shadow in the middle of the brow bone to highlight the eyes even further.

Deep Set Eyes

Deep-set eyes can be offset by downplaying the brow bone. Apply a light shade of natural, chemical free eye shadow to the entire eyelid, followed by a slightly darker shade on the eyelid crease. Highlight the eyes with a lighter shade on the brow bone only. When applying eyeliner, start with a thin line at the inner corner of the eye that becomes thicker in the middle of the eye. Taper the line to a thinner point as you head towards the outer corner of the eye.

For The Lips

Rough Lips

One of the best ways to smooth out rough lips is to use an old, soft toothbrush to gently brush away dry, flaky skin. Follow up by applying a organic moisturizer such as Parfait Visage to the lips and allowing it to sit for at least thirty minutes.

Uneven Lips

If your lips are uneven, you can use lip liner and lip color to correct this imperfection. However, be sure to use foundation or concealer as a base for this make up to keep it in place longer. And only try to make subtle changes. Use the make up to make one side of the lip slightly higher, and the other side slightly lower. It may not be perfect, but it will offset the difference.
