Make Up Advice

by www.make-up-cosmetics.com

Where do you turn for make up advice? Your sister? Your mother? Your best friend? Most of us have at least one trusted confidant that we can trust to tell us when our mascara is too clumpy, or our lipstick is too bright. We rely on this advice to keep us looking our best. Here is some more make up advice that you can use for your self and share with your friends to bring out the beauty in each of you.

Choosing Make Up

There are as many different make up products on the market as there are women who love to wear them. It can be difficult to choose the most flattering shade for you from the myriad of choices available. Start by learning a bit more about your own natural coloring so that you can better choose the shades and colors that will enhance your features.

Take a close look at your face in a well lighted mirror. Your hair, eyes, and skin are not a single flat color. Rather, they each possess a range of shades and highlights that combine to achieve a certain tone. Look for the different hues of your skin tone, the highlights in your hair, and the flecks of color in your eyes. When purchasing make up, look for products that highlight and enhance these natural features.

Purchasing Make Up

Now that you know what colors and shades you are looking for, you can head out to find the products that will work best for you. Look for natural, organic, chemical free products that come from a reputable company. You are more likely to experience allergic reactions from cosmetic products that are poorly made or packaged.

Applying Make Up

Here are a few tips for getting the most out of your make up, and achieving a fresh, polished look.

Getting Started: Be sure to apply make up to skin that is clean, fresh, and moisturized. This will help your make up stay in place longer and give you a fresh, natural look.

Foundation: Old wisdom says that you should choose a foundation by blending it on the back of your hand. But it makes better sense to match the foundation to the skin on your neck. This is the skin that the product will eventually need to match anyhow!

Concealer: Stay away from stick concealers as these can look harsh and streaky. Instead, use a tube of concealer that blends well with your foundation and your skin tone.

Blush: Blush looks best when it is applied lightly to the apples of the cheeks. The secret to blush is blend, blend, blend. This will give you the most natural, fresh look.

Powder: Use a translucent powder to “set” the look of your face and keep your foundation and blush in place. Powder can also help to reduce the shine on oily skin.

Eyebrows: Under no circumstances should you “draw” on your eyebrows. Carefully groom your eyebrows with a tweezer to remove stray or excess hairs. And use an eye brow pencil to lightly fill in sparse areas.

Eye Lashes: An eye lash curler can open up your eyes and add polish and definition to your eyes. Separate your lashes with an eyelash comb between coats of mascara to keep the product from clumping.

Lip Color: You can get the most staying power from your lip color by applying a light coat of foundation or concealer as a base coat. This will help keep your lip stick in place and keep it on your lips all day.

Caring For Make Up

Make up products can be extremely sensitive to environmental factors such as sunlight, damp conditions, heat, and cold. So, be sure to use caution regarding where you choose to store your cosmetics. These products will last longer and stay fresher if you store them properly and reduce their exposure to these factors. A shelf in your bedroom, out of direct sunlight is a good choice for storage. Keep your make up out of your car (it’s too easy for you to leave it there) and away from drafty windows, heating vents, or direct sunlight.

Each time you finish using a cosmetic product, be sure the lid is closed securely to keep dust and dirt from mixing with the product. Clean your make up brushes by wiping them with a tissue after each use. Wash them once a week in warm, soapy water. Be sure to allow the brushes to dry thoroughly before storing them in a make up bag or drawer. Finally, keep disposable tools such as Q-tips, cotton balls, and sponges in clean, closed containers to protect them from dirt and dust. Don’t be tempted to use them more than once. Bacteria and germs can multiply quickly on their surface, so throw them away immediately after use.
